CARE FOR BABY WITH COLD
Cold is a very common problem that we are seeing in baby's.This will make baby uncomfortable, snuffling, trouble in feeding and disturbed sleep.
causes of cold:
Cold is the infection of the mouth ,nose and throat.This is caused by different viruses.Cold is caused by
- Sneezes and cough from others
- Hand to hand contact
So always cover your mouth while sneezing and cough and wash your hands while going near to your baby.
TREATMENT FOR COLD:
REST:Make your baby to sleep for more time.
HYDRATE:Feed your baby extra breast or bottle feed.If your baby is on solid foods then give her plenty of water.
CLEAN NOSE:Clean the nose of baby frequently with tissue or a clean soft cloth.There is any irritation of nose than apply petroleum jelly.
NASAL SALINE DROPS:If baby nose is blocked with mucus and having difficulty in feeding or breathing then keep nasal saline drops only before 15mins of her feeding.
VAPOUR RUB:A vapour rub on her chest and back can help her easy breathing and feels comfortable.
Don't apply this vapour to nostrils,this will restrict her breathing.
STEAM INHALATION:This is the best choice to free nasal congestion of baby.Boil water and make your baby to inhale that steam by cover her head with towel.
BULB SYRINGE:To clear mucus from nostrils,use bulb syringe to clear mucus from nostrils.
Use this syringe after steam inhalation because mucus will thin due to steam inhalation and it will be easy to suck mucus from nose with bulb syringe.

If your baby is suffering from cold then make sure that it should go naturally by steam inhalation,vapour rub,giveing rest to baby ,by giving plenty of fluids, by cleaning nose and don't expose your baby to cold air or cold fluids.In case of any emergency we can give cetrigine syrup to baby and should consult Doctor.

- 6-12 MONTHS OF AGE: 2.5mg given once daily(maximum dose 5mg daily)
- 12-24 MONTHS OF AGE: 2.5mg given once or twice (maximum dose 5mg daily)
- OVER 6YEARS OF AGE: 5-10mg given once or twice (maximum dose 10mg daily)
